A.H.A

Also known as Alpha hydroxy Acid is a chemical exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, revealing smoother and more radiant skin. It reduces hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and signs of ageing and can act as a humectant, providing skin hydration.

How long is the treatment?

SkinLab’s Signature Medical Peel + Omega Light lasts 90 minutes.

Is there any downtime? Are there any side effects?

There is a chance your skin may peel. This will depend on the strength and type of the peel used, the frequency of treatment, and any skin reactions to the peel.

What is the treatment suitability?

Beneficial and safe for all skin types except those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. A small patch test can be done prior to the facial. A very serious allergic reaction to the Signature Medical Peel is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor immediately.

How often should I do the treatment?

You can enjoy it once every 3-4 weeks.

Are there other areas in this treatment that can be used on?

Yes! We’ve adapted our Signature Medical Peel + Omega Light to be used on the Eyes and on the Body.

Are there any pre- or post-treatment instructions?

You will be required to share your medical history with the consulting professional, especially those concerning your skin. These include the use of medications like isotretinoin or vitamin A creams. You may be required to stop using such medication or topicals temporarily.

Post-treatment instructions include:

Cleanse your skin gently and apply any creams provided.
Do not pick at scabs, if any.
Avoid/limit sun exposure.
Always wear sunscreen.
Other instructions provided by a professional.

What is the difference between an over-the-counter chemical peel and SkinLab's Medical Peel?

Over-the-counter chemical peels and acids are only available in lower concentrations (e.g., up to 10% with glycolic acid). They are also generally only able to tackle very mild skin conditions such as mild acne or as gentle home-based exfoliation.

Professional/medical chemical peels are available in relatively higher concentrations (e.g., up to 30 or even 70%) and are administered by trained professionals such as estheticians/cosmeticians, nurses, or doctors.

These peels tackle a wider spectrum of skin concerns, including mild to moderate acne, unwanted pigmentation, light acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.
